Street (in)credibility

Don't want to do any spoilers but this pettishly flirtatious encounter between Russell Harty and Adrian Street takes a dramatic turn...

An earlier post on the glam wrestler

A kind of sequel post, connecting Ken Loach / Barry Hines's Kes and Roxy Music's Avalon...

Son and father, glitter and coal dust

  1. Amazing stuff. I particularly liked the knowing allusion to Some Like it Hot.

The actual wrestling itself is thin gruel, though, isn’t it? I would never describe myself as a WWE fan, but compared to what’s in that clip it looks like Van Halen or Ozzy next to Tommy Steele.

    1. Yeah he was being gentle with Russell.....

Would make a good video pair with the famous Grace Jones slapping Harty

    2. I meant the proper wrestling that people paid to see. The film clip at the beginning, with the Brylcreemed stooges standing around for Street to put his moves on them. Not even the faintest attempt to simulate a genuine contest. People were easily pleased in those days!
